My lenses are always dirty
Do any of these situations sound familiar ?
Every time I check my lenses, they are dirty. I feel like I am constantly cleaning them.
I have a job that requires a lot of physical movement, so my lenses are often dirty from sweat.
Are your lenses treated to be easy-clean?
The surface of an ordinary lens is prone to attract dust and dirt, and is often difficult to clean. Choosing lenses that are treated with Easy Clean makes a huge difference, as these lenses are coated with a slippery surface that repels oil and dirt.
Nikon pioneered this oil-repellent technology in Japan with its Easy Clean
coat. On higher-grade NCC and Seacoat+ lenses, lenses are treated so that they do not attract dust along with their long-lasting oil repellent effect.
To keep your glasses in great shape for a long time, here are some tips for cleaning and caring for your lenses.
- Never dry wipe your lenses. Dry wiping dirty lenses often leads to scratches, as it’s likely that particles will be caught between the lens and the cloth.
- Clean lenses first under running water. If your lenses are dirty with grease or oil, you can add hand soap to the water, then rinse gently.
- Afterward, if the lenses need to be wiped, gently wipe them with a clean cloth or a soft paper tissue, holding the lens between your fingers, without using any force.
Caution: lenses are also sensitive to heat. If you want to learn more about the proper care for your eyeglass lenses, see the attached guide provided by the Japanese Association of Optical Medical Devices.
The Nikon lenses that fit your needs
Nikon ECC, NCC and Seacoat+ lenses receive an oil-repellant, easy- clean coat that makes the lenses more difficult to stain and easier to clean. With a reduced need to wipe your lenses, you’ll also lower your risk of scratches.
